Microneedling

Micro-needling, also known as collagen induction therapy (CIT), is a minimally invasive treatment that uses a pen-like device containing twelve 32G sterile needles, to puncture the surface of the skin. These microscopic wounds stimulate the production of collagen and elastin which results in the improvement of the appearance of fine lines, acne scars and the skin’s texture, tone and color. Repeating this process several times per year and combining it with a healthy skincare regimen can dramatically improve your skin health.

MICRONEEDLING VS. DERMAL ROLLERS

Automated micro-needling is superior to dermal rollers as the needles move in a vertical direction for better precision when treating the skin.

Unlike Automated Micro-needling, the roller does not create a precise vertical action. This lack of precision can contribute

to greater discomfort and negative side effects to the skin such as micro tears or scarring.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Numbing cream with be applied to the treatment area to help make the treatment as comfortable as possible.

You can anticipate minimal downtime with microneedling. Some pinpoint bleeding and redness post treatment is expected. Redness typically lasts for 24-48 hours. Hyaluronic acid is used to help glide the device across the skin and increase hydration. You will notice an immediate glow to the skin, but you will continue to see results for several weeks to months afterwards.

The treatment takes approximately 30 minutes depending on the area being treated.

Treatments should be done in a series of 3 or more depending on your individual skin assessment, each spaced 4-6 weeks apart.

To effectively treat acne scarring 6-8 treatments is required.
